Luke Smith founded LawSmith PLLC to represent employees in workers’ compensation disputes.
Luke is adept at collecting the evidence needed to prove a workers’ compensation case, and present that evidence to the Department of Labor and Industry, Office of Administrative Hearings, Workers’ Compensation Court of Appeals, or Supreme Court of Minnesota, as needed.
Luke also negotiates the settlement of workers’ compensation cases with insurance companies.
Luke is a skilled and experienced litigator and negotiator. Additionally, Luke provides clients with advice and counsel on workers’ compensation issues from experience on all sides of the table.

Throughout his legal career, Luke Smith has practiced primarily in the area of workers’ compensation. Luke has in the past represented employees, employers, and insurance carriers in all stages of litigation. He now is focused on representing employees in workers’ compensation matters.
Luke Smith worked at a law firm that practiced employee-side workers’ compensation throughout law school. He graduated from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2016. He represented injured workers in workers’ compensation litigation following law school.
Luke went on to practice at a mid-sized law firm that represented employers and insurers in workers’ compensation litigation. At that firm, Luke represented businesses and insurance companies in advice matters, as well as proceedings at the Department of Labor and Industry, Office of Administrative Hearings, Workers’ Compensation Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Minnesota.

Luke Smith graduated from Mitchell Hamline School of Law with a Juris Doctor in 2016, summa cum laude (highest honors). Luke received CALI Awards in Real Estate Transactions, Criminal Law/Statutory Interpretation, and Accounting & Finance Survey. Luke was an associate editor of the law review, and participated in moot court.
